The St. Louis Cardinals took the night off last night, as they got too comfortable against the Pirates at Pittsburgh. When you don’t appear and choose a team lightly, losses of 9-4 against inferior talent can happen. The Cardinals should avoid taking opponents down the stretch at the currency of August. They have a 2.5-game cause the NL Central, that may quickly become a 2.5-game shortage if they don’t watch out.
Despite trailing the Cardinals going into Saturday, the Cubs are alive and well. Milwaukee managed to assist the Cardinals out Friday night. By a score of 7-1, the Cubs were belted by the Brewers with an opportunity to get to the Cards.
It was a missed chance in that one for the Cubs. Every game in this stage gets put under a magnifying glass. Losses and wins eventually become much more important in the season’s last months. That’s true tenfold.

He carries a 6.54 ERA and 1.62 WHIP going into Saturday. But he’s been showing signs of getting better as a customer. Wainwright has allowed 3 or less runs.
Steven Brault has allowed 3 home runs and 13 runs against the Cards. They’re currently hitting on .258 vs Brault, therefore it is consistent with Wainwright. As the Pirates beat the Cardinals evening in Pittsburgh was a rare sight. Because it happened at PNC Park, it is especially rare.
The Cardinals were on the verge of a winning series in Pittsburgh last 20, prior to that was stopped by the Bucs. In their last 32 meetings, the Cards have really gone 23-9, so this has been a series ruled by St. Louis.
