British couple two Heather Watson dropped the Tianjin Open closing – her first WTA last for over three decades – in straight sets to Rebecca Peterson.
Swedish world number 59 Peterson, 24, won 6-4 to claim her second WTA title.
Watson, ranked 125th, broke in the places but was pegged back times, with Peterson winning 38 seconds.
The match was played inside in the end after a rain delay.
Watsons type this week means if the new rankings are published, the 27-year-old is sure to climb back inside the worlds top 100.
It was the very first time that the Briton had dropped WTA winning her past Hobart in 2015 three in Osaka in 2012 and Monterrey in 2016.
Following the game, Watson explained:Im am so happy on court today and I am so enjoying my sport . Im looking forward to seeing whats to come
