Australia vs Georgia
World Cup
11th October
Australia finished their Rugby World Cup Pool D program on Friday, grinding out the triumph from rain-sodden conditions in Shizuoka.
Nic White notched the sole attempt with out-half Matt Toomua adding the points of the period using a penalty beyond a strong Georgia defensive effort, for the Wallabies.
Marika Koroibete saw a sensational attempt to provide Australia breathing distance, but Georgia responded into the last 10 minutes as Alexander Todua sprinted up the wing after a Lasha Khmaladze break to score.
Australia back-row Jack Dempsey rubber-stamped the victory with five minutes remaining, however, when he scored the back of a drive off when he dived over in the final minute and Will Genia additional gloss to the scoreline.
Australia will face England at the quarter-finals in Oita on Saturday, October 19 – with England with come off the rear of a 14-day remainder on Saturday with France on account of the unprecedented cancellation of their Pool B clash.
