Odds Indicate Fitzpatrick Has the Edge on Rosen to Win Dolphins Starting QB Job

When the Arizona Cardinals drafted Kyler Murray with All the first-overall pick at the 2019 NFL Draft, the writing was already on the wall for Josh Rosen’s tenure in the desert.

Despite the Miami Dolphins purchasing low on Rosen shortly afterwards, the UCLA product isn’t ensured the starting job in his new surroundings.
Online sportsbook BetOnline has launched a prop on which quarterback will start Week 1 to the Miami Dolphins against the Baltimore Ravens, with journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick since the thick -300 favorite. Rosen is coming back as the +200 underdog at the shop.
Dolphins head coach Brian Flores recently told reporters that Rosen is fighting with basic things like”getting guys in and out of their huddle,” decision-making and human language. Per Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the club has already made plans to be in presence for Nearly All the games Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa, Georgia’s Jake Fromm along with Oregon’s Justin Herbert.
Considering the Dolphins got Rosen from the Cardinals for a second-round pick in this year’s draft, Miami general director Chris Grier was not making a massive gamble about the 22-year-old. This is going to be a remarkably significant year for Rosen, like the Dolphins do opt to take a quarterback in the first round of the 2020 draft, then he could very likely be searching for his third NFL team in for decades.
Fitzpatrick is far from a long-term option in the quarterback position for the Fins, but also the veteran appears like the much safer alternative under center using the normal season drawing closer. The 37-year-old revealed flashes of genius for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while filling in for Jameis Winston final season. “Fitz-magic” did have a few speed bumps along the way, however, and it’s been a requirement for him to perform in a level during a complete year in his profession.
You’re not likely to find much value at the current -200 amount, but backing Fitzpatrick to win at the starting gig is a no-brainer to me. If Rosen lights it up in the remaining preseason contests that may change, but I feel new head coach Brian Flores will elect to go with the far more experienced Fitzpatrick within the inconsistent Rosen from this gate.
The Dolphins boast that the cheapest projected season win total in the league at OVER/UNDER 4.5, plus they have the maximum opportunity to win the Super Bowl (+15,000). It is probably going to be a long year in South Beach, but the quarterback situation is certainly something to keep your eye on.
