Jonny May says he has given some thought to a Alan Shearer-style party if he strikes a try at St James’ Park.
England face Italy in their final World Cup warm-up in Newcastle on Friday night, live on Sky Sports, with Eddie Jones inclined to field a strong side ahead of his side’s championship opener against Tonga on September 22.
May is currently excited about playing at the historic house of the Magpies, however, says not to anticipate a sight if he strikes the whitewash around Tyneside.
“No, I had not thought about that yet,” May told Sky Sports when asked of a possible Shearer celebration. “I think it’s really excellent to engage everybody across the country, and so to go up north and play with a game there is brilliant.
“It’s a very cool stadium, lots of history there. I am genuinely enthusiastic about it.”
The winger states it would like to return to playing, and has been a, to get some training together with the group in Italy this week .
“It has been a long time arriving. It feels like we have worked to get a very long period of time today,” said May.
“We have been back in Treviso this week getting some extra challenging work in. It is going to come around fast today.”
The Leicester man is not thinking much about that which Japan offers out of their grounds, and says that the group’s only ideas are on winning the trophy.
When asked exactly what excites him around Japan, the 29-year-old stated:”I just can’t wait to have at the scene and play some French.
“Just to find out, play some rugby, adopt the air, play at a World Cup, represent your country – those items are exciting.
“The notion would be to summit out there in Japan and to peak in the closing. We wish to go out there and win it.”
