Both managers will probably be frustrated following this one for various reasons. Paul Heckingbottoms Hibernian have been in a position, a target up and a man up but bad has cost both points.
Christian Doidge is your guilty party missing four one-on-ones using Aberdeen goalkeeper and captain Joe Lewis, who did his first occupation on every occasion.
Doidge joined with large expectations given Hibernian paid a reasonable transfer fee for his services with their criteria, but the former Welsh basketball international failed to deliver yet again.
He missed three good chances in the opening championship game of the year against St Mirren. This outcome will not have helped his confidence or the fans patience because the seven-and-a-half year wait to get a triumph in the Granite city of Hibernian goes on.
Derek McInnes assigned media duties to his assistant Tony Docherty, who said that the teams personality and belief were right down to the manager. Aberdeen appeared to play with 10 men and they had to clearly show their qualities at Ibrox after last weeks 5-0 thumping.
McInnes and Docherty felt neither Curtis Main nor Lewis Ferguson merited reddish cards due to their challenges on Stevie Mallan but sense of injustice worked for the team since they pulled together to salvage some point.
Another Aberdeen boost was that the earlier than expected return of defender Scott McKenna from harm. His existence will no doubt assist as Aberdeen look to regroup and recover over the international break.
Motherwell transferred into 3 points of Ladbrokes Premiership leaders Celtic win over St Mirren at Fir Park.
The Well, that are in third position, a stage behind Rangers, were made to wait patiently before the minute prior to taking the guide.
Together with all the Scotland U21 forward scoring a sublime curling shot, james Scott was the guy to catch the goal.
Chris Long subsequently added gloss to depart St Mirren with no win in six league games.
After being held to a 2-2 draw at Ross County, st Johnstone stay bottom of this table, and with no win.
Joe Chalmers opened the scoring for County at the 10th minute after reversing Ross Stewarts cross.
St Johnstone equalised after 34 minutes when a lovely ball behind discovered Stevie May, who slotted home.
If Matty Kennedy fired at a long-range strike, the Saints then took the lead six minutes after half-time.
Ross County rallied, though, and drew level to stay fifth.
